East Devon Aircrew Association (EDACA)

A brief introduction.

As mentioned on our Welcome page, EDACA is just one of the oganisations that meet in our club several times a month.
EDACA is arguably one of the largest and most successful Aircrew Association (ACA) clubs in the country.  With a membership of around 80, EDACA has an interesting monthly program of talks on many and varied topics.  Add to that the monthly lunchtime meal at a local pub, and 'Gossip and Grub' get-together here in the RAFA club, and you can understand why.

The future of East Devon ACA.

As you may be aware, nationally the ACA will cease to exist after December 2011 - as anno domini and the Grim Reaper exert their influence!  However, as our branch still has a healthy membership, it has been decided we will continue to meet as normal for the foreseeable future.  So don't let the national situation prevent you from joining our very successful local club.  We are proud to say we have a well balanced membership from ALL the flying services, not just the RAF - so we can soon make you welcome whatever your background!

And finally...

RUNWAY'S END

Following on from the success of his first three books about members of the EDACA, plus stories of local airfields, Grahame Holloway has produced another masterpiece which adds the exploits of our newer members, together with those of a few neighbouring ACA clubs.

This 220 page, A5 book, has many interesting photograph's to support the well documented accounts from those whose stories are told.

Available from early December 2011, this makes the ideal 'stocking filler' for anyone who has an interest in flying, or has a father or grand-father who was involved with military aviation.

The book itself is £5:99 (or £7 including P&P).  To get your copy (copies?), send a cheque made payable to:

It occurs to me that if Grahame ever writes a fifth book about EDACA, the only title left will be 'Into the overshoot'...!
